Ministry suggests additional power tariff hike of 1.7% on Jan 1

MOSCOW, Aug 21 (PRIME) -- The Energy Ministry has suggested the government raise public utility tariffs by 1.7% from January 1, 2019 simultaneously with a 2% hike in value added tax, and by 4% from July 1, 2019, Deputy Minister Vyacheslav Kravchenko told PRIME on Tuesday.

“We suggest a 1.7% increase from January 1, and a hike along with inflation from July, as was forecasted previously. The Economic Development Ministry suggests growth of 2.4% (from July 1), which is below inflation. We suggest that the July increase amount to the level of inflation, which is 4% in accordance with the previous decisions,” he said.

The government earlier approved an increase of value-added tax to 20% from 18% from January 1, 2019.
